I began my journey as a photographer, growing up on the East Coast. I went to graduate school in Connecticut and was fascinated by the old mill towns that were abundant at the time. Such a sense of loss and decay.
In the decades since, I've focused on the natural world, beautiful as well as distressed, as everything tells a story.
My current work takes a step away from precision and moves toward creating a sense of mystery and transcendence using a variety of mediums and processes. I combine alternative materials with photography (silk, vellum, leafing, paint and graphite] to bring depth, dimension and luminescence. Recently, I've pushed further into the realm of abstraction, using monotypes and painting.
